From Dirty Truths by Michael Parenti
(1996, City Lights Books)
Almost as an article of faith, some individuals believe that conspiracies are either kooky fantasies or unimportant aberrations. To be sure, wacko conspiracy theories do exist. There are people who believe that the United States has been invaded by a secret United Nations army equipped with black helicopters, or that the country is secretly controlled by Jews or gays or feminists or black nationalists or communists or extraterrestrial aliens. But it does not logically follow that all conspiracies are imaginary.
Conspiracy is a legitimate concept in law: the collusion of two or more people pursuing illegal means to effect some illegal or immoral end. People go to jail for committing conspiratorial acts. Conspiracies are a matter of public record, and some are of real political significance. The Watergate break-in was a conspiracy, as was the Watergate cover-up, which led to Nixon's downfall. Iran-contra was a conspiracy of immense scope, much of it still uncovered. The savings and loan scandal was described by the Justice Department as "a thousand conspiracies of fraud, theft, and bribery," the greatest financial crime in history.
Often the term "conspiracy" is applied dismissively whenever one suggests that people who occupy positions of political and economic power are consciously dedicated to advancing their elite interests. Even when they openly profess their designs, there are those who deny that intent is involved. In 1994, the officers of the Federal Reserve announced they would pursue monetary policies designed to maintain a high level of unemployment in order to safeguard against "overheating" the economy. Like any creditor class, they preferred a deflationary course. When an acquaintance of mine mentioned this to friends, he was greeted skeptically, "Do you think the Fed bankers are deliberately trying to keep people unemployed?" In fact, not only did he think it, it was announced on the financial pages of the press. Still, his friends assumed he was imagining a conspiracy because he ascribed self-interested collusion to powerful people.
Those who suffer from conspiracy phobia are fond of saying: "Do you actually think there's a group of people sitting around in a room plotting things?" For some reason that image is assumed to be so patently absurd as to invite only disclaimers. But where else would people of power get together - on park benches or carousels? Indeed, they meet in rooms: corporate boardrooms, Pentagon command rooms, at the Bohemian Grove, in the choice dining rooms at the best restaurants, resorts, hotels, and estates, in the many conference rooms at the White House, the NSA, the CIA, or wherever. And, yes, they consciously plot - though they call it "planning" and "strategizing" - and they do so in great secrecy, often resisting all efforts at public disclosure. No one confabulates and plans more than political and corporate elites and their hired specialists. To make the world safe for those who own it, politically active elements of the owning class have created a national security state that expends billions of dollars and enlists the efforts of vast numbers of people.
Yet there are individuals who ask with patronizing, incredulous smiles, do you really think that the people at the top have secret agendas, are aware of their larger interests, and talk to each other about them? To which I respond, why would they not? This is not to say that every corporate and political elite is actively dedicated to working for the higher circles of power and property. Nor are they infallible or always correct in their assessments and tactics or always immediately aware of how their interests are being affected by new situations. But they are more attuned and more capable of advancing their vast interests than most other social groups.
The alternative is to believe that the powerful and the privileged are somnambulists, who move about oblivious to questions of power and privilege; that they always tell us the truth and have nothing to hide even when they hide so much; that although most of us ordinary people might consciously try to pursue our own interests, wealthy elites do not; that when those at the top employ force and violence around the world it is only for the laudable reasons they profess; that when they arm, train, and finance covert actions in numerous countries, and then fail to acknowledge their role in such deeds, it is because of oversight or forgetfulness or perhaps modesty; and that it is merely a coincidence how the policies of the national security state so consistently serve the interests of the transnational corporations and the capital-accumulation system throughout the world.
American Patriot Andrew Ward wrote:
I think it’s pretty clear that Conspiracy is a dirty word for a reason: The Establishment engages in conspiratorial acts on a daily basis. It would be foolish for They not to publish loads of worthless historical facts, promote stereotypes along with skin-deep diversity, teach dismal sciences, and report misinformation in order to divide, distract, and mislead the serfs . . . for “adults” there’s that old, Banker-financed Marxist child’s fable of the Proletariat vs. Bourgeoisie which has crowded out the more accurate, generalized depiction of our situation: the ruling class vs. We, the People . . . Maybe this is just the chemtrails talking, but “Conspiracy Theorists” are not crazy for wanting to expose the men behind the curtain. The real crazies are the statists blinded by the curtain of red, white, and blue.
Foundingfather1776 recognizes the reality of “Conspiracies” …do YOU?
Maybe you have been so conditioned to equate “Conspiracy” with “crazy kooky” that you cannot think “outside the box?” You cannot believe what your own eyes and ears tell you.
WAKE UP! QUIT BEING PLAYED! Yes there are crazies out there and yes there are also professional saboteurs spreading disinformation. But use your God-Given brain and RECOGNIZE what is going on. Ignorance is no longer an excuse. The truth is out there, you have but to reach for it.
To help you in your journey, I would like to present some examples of “Conspiracy” where it cannot be questioned you are being lied to, manipulated and/or something major is being covered up:

Former Governor Jesse Ventura went further in his 9/11 skepticism than ever before today when he told the Howard Stern Show of his fear that elements of the U.S. government carried out the attack, stating, “I hate to fear….that we possibly did it to ourselves.”
“There’s a lot of very difficult questions that have not been answered and no one seems to want to provide any answers,” Ventura told Stern, adding that the most prescient was, “That a third building could fall into its own footprint five hours later having not been struck by much of anything….the 9/11 Commission didn’t even address the issue.
Pressed by Stern as to what he thought had happened, Ventura stated, “I hate to fear what could have happened that possibly we did it to ourselves,” to which Stern responded “you’re kidding me”.
Ventura explained that he worked in demolitions when he was in the Navy and questioned how the buildings could fall at the rate of gravity.
The former Governor countered skepticism on behalf of Stern and his co-hosts by pointing out that the WTC towers were built to withstand a jetliner impact.
Stern said it was “unthinkable” that our own government could have perpetrated the attack, to which Ventura reasoned, “Nothing is unthinkable – you’re talking about power, you’re talking about foreign policy changing over this event, you’re talking about getting control over the middle eastern oil.”
Stern’s co-host then attempted to throw Ventura by asserting that Bush could not be capable of organizing the attack, to which Ventura responded, “I don’t know if he is, but I certainly think there are people capable of doing it.”
Ventura then pointed out that kerosene does not burn hot enough to melt steel girders and asked why the buildings came down as powder and not in big chunks. Stern’s co-host regurgitated the tired old debunker line of claiming the steel weakened and sagged, causing the building to collapse.
“OK if that’s the case, if you use that analogy, then when you go camping and use a propane stove, which propane burns hotter than kerosene does, if you leave it on for two hours and you put a big can of beans on your grill, shouldn’t the grill collapse?” asked Ventura.
“This is crazy!” exclaimed Stern, without explaining why Ventura’s citation of basic physics had Stern and his team so baffled.
“These two buildings were white elephants, they were losing money, they had asbestos in them, and they were being required by law to do over a billion dollars worth of asbestos removal,” said Ventura, pointing out that WTC leaseholder Larry Silverstein made $7 billion dollars from his insurance claim after the attacks.
Ventura first went public with his questions about 9/11 during an on camera interview with Alex Jones in June 2006. He expanded on his thoughts during two subsequent radio interviews in April and May of this year.

Matt Taibbi and his buddies are making complete fools of themselves by trying to mock those who question 9/11:
“The same people who had managed in the 2000 election to sell billionaire petro-royalist George Bush as an ordinary down-to-earth ranch hand apparently so completely lacked confidence in their own propaganda skills that they resorted to ordering a mass murder on American soil as a way of cajoling America to go to war against a second-rate tyrant like Saddam Hussein. As if getting America to support going to war even against innocent countries had ever been hard before!
The truly sad thing about the 9/11 Truth movement is that it’s based upon the wildly erroneous proposition that our leaders would ever be frightened enough of public opinion to feel the need to pull off this kind of stunt before acting in a place like Afghanistan or Iraq.”
Um . . . haven’t you guys ever cracked a history book?
Don’t you know that virtually every war is preceded by either a false flag attack or fake intelligence, so as to trump up an imminent threat from the folks that are to be on the receiving end of the bayonets and bombs?
Haven’t you heard of the Maine, fellas? How about the Gulf of Tonkin? The Iraqi incubator story?
Didn’t you learn about Operation Himmler? The Reichstag fire? The Lavon Affair? Operation Gladio? Northwoods? Ajax?
And – as well as an excuse for war – don’t you know that false flag attacks have been used throughout history as a justification for the consolidation of power in the “strong man”?
Haven’t you guys ever heard these quotes by famous historical figures:
“This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs; when he first appears he is a protector.” – Plato
“If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.” – U.S. President James Madison
“Terrorism is the best political weapon for nothing drives people harder than a fear of sudden death”. – Adolph Hitler
“Why of course the people don’t want war … But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship … Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” – Hermann Goering, Nazi leader.
“The easiest way to gain control of a population is to carry out acts of terror. [The public] will clamor for such laws if their personal security is threatened”. – Josef Stalin
Indeed, even our current crop of leaders have said some interesting things:
“the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor.” – Cheney, Rumsfeld, Feith, Wolfowitz and the other boys at the Project for a New American Century, in 2000
“We haven’t had an attack in five years…The correction for that, I suppose, is an attack. And when that happens, then everyone gets energized….” – Donald Rumsfeld (right after he resigned as Secretary of Defense)
So here are the new rules: Don’t mock those who question 9/11 before learning some basic history.
Globalists Take a Step Closer to $200 Dollar Oil
JP Morgan Chase & Co announce plans to trade oil by end of 2008
Globalists hell-bent on reducing the living standards of westerners by jacking up oil prices to a whopping $200 dollars a barrel took a step closer to their target yesterday after JPMorgan Chase & Co announced that they will begin trading oil by the end of the year.
“JPMorgan Chase & Co will begin trading physical oil by year-end, increasing its exposure in a market that could rise to $200 a barrel, the bank’s global head of commodities said on Wednesday,” reports Reuters.
“The bank plans to expand in commodities and energy trading, Blythe Masters said, despite expectations of job cuts in other areas as it prepares to take on staff from Bear Stearns at the same time it deals with turbulent financial markets.”
“Oil rising to $200? It could happen. This year? You could see it, although it would take a further shock to expectations,” Masters said.
“Supply disruptions, geopolitical events, increased demand for refined products, weather, additional investor inflows driven by shifting inflation expectations — they could all contribute to high oil prices,” she added.
In a related story, Bank of England Governor Mervyn King warned that families should expect “a sharp fall in living standards” as rising food prices and inflation squeeze whatever disposable income Britons have left in the wake of crippling debts and a housing market in crisis.
A report by Goldman Sachs Group Inc. earlier this month forecasted that oil prices will reach $150 to $200 dollars a barrel within 2 years, a figure in line with the ultra-elite Bilderberg’s plans to squeeze the middle class and lower the living standards of westerners.
As we previously reported, The ultra-secretive Bilderberg Group, a consortium of power brokers from banking, business, politics, academia and oil, met in Munich Germany in May 2005 when crude oil prices were around the $40 a barrel mark.
During the conference, Henry Kissinger told his fellow attendees that the elite had resolved to ensure that oil prices would double over the course of the next 12-24 months, which is exactly what happened.
During their 2006 meeting in Ottawa Canada, Bilderberg agreed to push for $105 a barrel before the end of 2008. This information was gleaned from sources inside Bilderberg who have proven reliable in the past. That figure has already been surpassed by $21 dollars as oil shot up past $126 dollars a barrel this week.
If anything, the plan to hike oil prices up to $200 is on an accelerated course. Far from having a crystal ball that allows us to divine the future, we were able to accurately predict the soaring cost of oil by simply listening to what the power brokers themselves were saying, albeit through moles that managed to infiltrate Bilderberg meetings and obtain the information.
As we have documented, Bilderberg have sworn to bring about what Jose Barroso, President of the European Commission and a Bilderberg member, refers to as the “post-industrial revolution,” which in layman’s terms translates as a global economic crash, another great depression and the total evisceration of the middle class by means of a drastic hike in the cost of living.
